Coliphages are virus-like particles that infect Escherichia coli bacteria (E. coli) for their proliferation. Their presence in surface water indicates the contamination of this water with waste water, the coliphage count, therefore, is used as an indicator of waste. This application note shows a new approach of the real time monitoring of coliphages in waste water using the Autolab ESPRIT.
